Contesting parties must register with RoS – Shafie

-

TAWAU: Caretaker Chief Ninister Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Bin Haji Apdal stressed that each party contesting must be registered with the Registrar of Societies (RoS), a legitimate agency in order to comply with the law of contesting in elections.

“According to the rules, if a party wants to contest, the party must have a logo registered with the RoS,” he said.

Shafie said this matter should be discussed by all parties because he observed that there are a few contesting parties whose logos are not registered with the RoS.

“Any unregistered organization cannot contest. All parties must comply with the laws and conditions that have been outlined and should not be relaxed,” he added.

Shafie told reporters this when met at the Friendly Ceremony with Warisan party candidates who will be contesting in several areas in Tawau.

Commenting further, Shafie also said that SOPs should be adhered to such as the use of face masks, and physical distance to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“We are aware that the carriers of this virus are not from the locals but from illegal immigrants.

“Measures or initiatives have already been taken in order to end this virus network such as tightening controls on foreigners into the country, especially areas declared as red zones.

“Based on my observations for this friendly program, in general all adhere to the SOP that has been set such as the use of face masks and chairs are separated from each other,” he said.
