GRS-led govt capable of bringing positive change – Srikandi
KOTA KINABALU: Bersatu Srikandi (Women) exco Mizma Appehdullah has expressed confidence that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) State Government can contain the worsening Covid-19 pandemic.
Mizma said she is also confident the new GRS-led government has the strength and capability to bring positive change to Sabah.
"GRS consists of Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), which is a coalition that is comprehensive, encompassing the capabilities of leaders who are the backbone of GRS," she said in Lahad Datu on Thursday.
At this moment, she said GRS' focus should be in the growing Covid-19 pandemic in this state and if this effort is succesful, GRS will definitely come forth with an image that is more successful and will be loved by the people. "I am confident, GRS will take steps for this endeavor to the best of its ability."
"It is very important that this problem becomes the main focus because this problem is very big and this problem also threatens the economic stability of Sabah and Malaysia, even the whole world. Of course, the people will feel this effect because this pandemic suppresses the people's daily activities in work routine, learning and inhibit economic from various sectors," she added.
Mizma, also Sabah Bersatu Srikandi Information chief and Srikandi Lahad Datu division chief, said the people have high hopes for the new state government to protect them and continue with the state development during this pandemic era.
"If the Covid-19 pandemic in our state can be overcome and resolved, only then GRS will be more focused and open to bring development and various other plans aimed at improving the excellence of Sabah and its people," she said.
"Of course, this will take time but hopefully GRS will be able to do it with the wisdom of our leaders and the attention from the Central Government, which will definitely now tend to be more positive for Sabah.
"Among the people's high hopes are definitely in terms of infrastructure facilities like road network for transportation, clean water supply, electricity supply, education and health development, as well as telecommunication network that is necessary to expedite the implementation of upgrading process."
Mizma said the youth had also contributed to the GRS victory and change of state government.
"Certainly, the problem of unemployment, taxes and entry of illegal immigrants into the state are among the aspects why the government administration in Sabah has changed to GRS.
"These are the issues that are often looked at by our younger generation, and are important to address immediately as we almost recovered from Covid19 a while ago. But because of such problems (illegal immigrants), the problem of Covid-19 is back in our country," she said.
