28 cases involving oil rig workers in Sabah

-

KINABALU: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun yesterday confirmed that the alleged cluster involving oil rig workers in Sabah, which has gone viral, was true.

“According to our records, it is indeed true that there had been 28 positive cases involved (in the said cluster). Another 26 are still waiting for their screening results,” said Masidi, who is also the state’s Covid-19 official spokesperson in his daily press conference yesterday.

He said that the cluster had not yet been named but necessary actions have been taken.

In his official press statement yesterday, only three new clusters were announced.

However, later when asked by reporters, Masidi said that the 28 cases were part of the 535 new cases reported yesterday.

It was alleged that the oil rig workers arrived in helicopters and have been put in a quarantine centre at an undisclosed location.

No further confirmation was given in this matter.
