Taman Harmoni in S’kan under EMCO

The National Security Council
(NSC) has decided to place the Taman Harmoni People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Sandakan under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from Oct 23 until Nov 5.
“The EMCO will involve 870 housing units and affect 4,481 residents...all residents are required to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) set,” Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob told a virtual press conference via the Ministry of Defence’s Facebook page yesterday.
Ismail said that upon the advice of the Health Ministry, the NSC has agreed to implement the Enhanced MCO in the area due to the rising Covid-19 cases.
He said with the implementation of the Enhanced MCO, all residents are required to follow SOPs.
Among them, residents will not be allowed to go out from their houses, except during emergencies such as illnesses.
“They can only go out with the permission from the police,” added Ismail Sabri.
He also noted that the Health Ministry will conduct targeted Covid-19 screening on all the affected residents.
“The food distribution will be made by the state government with the coordination of the state disaster management operation centre.
“They cannot go out, so food will be distributed to them by the state government,” he said.
Ismail Sabri added that enforcement will be carried out by the Police, Armed Forces, and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, among others.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said a total of 434 individuals were detained on Tuesday for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
He said of the total, 400 individuals were compounded, 24 were remanded and 10 were released on bail.
Ismail Sabri said among the offences were not wearing face masks, involving 188 individuals, failure to observe physical distancing (77), failure to provide equipment to record personal details (83) and others (86).
On Op Benteng, he said 37 illegal immigrants were detained and 10 vehicles were seized on Tuesday adding that a total of 304 roadblocks were also mounted nationwide.
