Unemployed charged with murder
KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man was yesterday charged in the Magistrate’s Court here, with killing another man in front of a sundry shop on Oct 8.
V. Yuvandran, 41, nodded when the charge was read to him before magistrate Mohamad Fared Abdul Latif.
No plea was recorded from the accused as murder cases come under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Yuvandran is alleged to have killed S.S. Ragu, 52, in front of a sundry shop at Flat Sri Sabah 3B, Batu 3 1/2 Jalan Ikan Ayu, Cheras, here, between 1.45 pm and 2 pm, last Oct 8.
The offence under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the death sentence upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Wan Ahmad Hakimi Wan Ahmad Jaafar appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by lawyer, Vincent Chew.
The court fixed Dec 21 for case mention.
