Fishmonger charged with cheating man of RM60,000

PETALING JAYA: A fishmonger pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday to two charges of cheating an employee of an informatio­n technology company of RM60,000 to settle a loan borrowed from an ‘ah long’ (loan shark).

Azraie Jamaludin, 43, is charged with having induced S. Ray Shashidran, 40, into handing him the money to settle the loan at The Coffee Bean, Tropicana Avenue and Eastin Hotel here on Oct 5 and 9.

The charge, under Section 420 of the Penal Code, provides for a jail term of between one year and 10 years, with whipping and a fine, upon conviction.

Magistrate Nurshahira Abdul Salim set bail at RM6,000 with one surety and set Dec 14 for mention of the case.
