Those with employer’s letter should be allowed to get through roadblocks – Ismail

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Individuals with a valid work pass or authorisation letter from their employers should be allowed to pass through roadblocks mounted in areas placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said police personnel manning the roadblocks should not order those with one of these documents to turn back.

“Those who have to travel to another district for work only need to present their employee pass or letters from their employers and the police should allow them to get through roadblocks,” he told a media conference on the development of Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) here yesterday.

He was commenting on a newspaper report that some employees have been ordered to turn back and were not allowed to continue their journey to their office by police personnel manning roadblocks.

Ismail Sabri said the police were not provided with a specific list of jobs that require employees to work in the office or otherwise.

However, he said the previous announcement by the government had stated that public and private sector employees at management and supervisory levels in areas placed under CMCO have been directed to work from home.

Employees who are required to work in the office during the CMCO period must obtain a permission letter or work pass from their employers, Ismail Sabri added.

Meanwhile he reminded recipients of the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional 2.0 (BPN 2.0) to adhere to the standard operating procedures set by the authorities when withdrawing the money at banks.

“As we know, there are 10.6 million existing recipients, and payment will be made in the near future. So we hope that the recipients will follow the instructions given by the monitoring team that will be stationed at each bank,” he said.

The government had previously announced that payment for the first phase of BPN 2.0 would be channelled to the existing 10.6 million eligible recipients in stages starting October 26. - Bernama
