DAP Sandakan kickstarts community disinfection program
SANDAKAN: DAP Sandakan has kick-started the Community Disinfection Programme on Wednesday as part of their effort in assisting the community here to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
The programme is a joint effort by all three DAP elected representatives in Sandakan, namely Tanjung Papat assemblyman and DAP Sabah Acting Chairman, Datuk Frankie Poon, Sandakan Member of Parliament, Vivian Wong and Elopura assemblyman, Calvin Chong.
This voluntary disinfection programme is headed by DAP Socialist Youth Batu Sapi Chief
Peter Soo.
The first stop for the programme on Wednesday covered Bandar Kim Fung at mile 4. Locations disinfected include Pasar Kim Fung, bus stops and overhead pedestrian bridges at both Kim Fung and Prima Square, parks' gazebos, Elopura Mini Post Office and the sidewalk along the Kim Fung Night Market street.
During the disinfection session at Kim Fung yesterday, Vivian Wong, represented by her political secretary Teo Chee Kim, expressed her thanks to the DAP volunteer team for their effort.
At the same time, she also urged the public to remain vigilant and comply with the Standard Operating Procedure at all times to fight against the pandemic.
“This war against Covid19 is far from over, everyone must do their part to keep it under control and minimize any further spreading in our community,” said Vivian.
Also present at the session was Special Officer for P186 Sandakan Tang Szu Ching, and officers from Majlis Perbandaran Sandakan and the district health department.
In the coming weeks, the DAP Sandakan disinfection team will proceed to other locations around Sandakan, such as town centre, Sim Sim housing areas, Pasar Elopura, Sri Taman Flats, PPR Harmoni and Indah Jaya Flat.
