Annuar to sue Cheras MP over DBKL land sale claims
KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa will be taking legal action against Cheras Member of Parliament Tan Kok Wai who claims he has sold 42 plots of land belonging to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
He stressed that during his tenure as minister for eight months since March, he had not received any request from DBKL asking for approval to sell any DBKL assets.
He said the Federal Territory DAP chairman's claim was slanderous, affecting his reputation and that of DBKL.
“It is a very serious allegation,” he said at a press conference at the Parliament building yesterday.
Tan's allegation was reported by an online news portal on Wednesday which claimed that during Annuar's tenure, many DBKL-owned plots of land were sold to the private sector for development involving housing and commercial projects.
Annuar, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ketereh, said Tan should have raised the matter in the Dewan Rakyat so that he could have given an answer, not outside the august House.
“Actions outside Parliament are subject to the law. So I have instructed my lawyers to take legal action against Tan because I view these allegation seriously,” he said.
In another development, Annuar, who is the secretarygeneral of Barisan Nasional (BN), said there was no question of which minister from which party held a portfolio in the Cabinet because the government's decision was made in a Cabinet meeting based on the principle of ‘collective responsibility'.
