Kimanis MP also denies supporting Anwar

-

KOTA KINABALU: Kimanis Member of Parliament Datuk Mohamad Alamin vehemently denies allegation that he was among Umno’s elected representatives who had signed statutory declarations in support of opposition chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Mohamad said that as a lawyer, he understands the effect and intention why a statutory declaration is made.

“Therefore I would like to say here that I have not signed a statutory declaration supporting Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister,” he said in a statement yesterday.

In the past, Mohamad and Umno Sabah chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin had been said to be among Umno MPs who had signed a statutory declaration supporting Anwar.

The latest allegation surfaced again last week when Astro Awani reported that Anwar was trying to again convince the Agong that he had the support of MPs to form the new government.

A source told Astro Awani that Anwar has, in his possession, 113 statutory declarations supporting him.

Bung Moktar who is Kinabatangan Member of Parliament had denied that he was among Umno MPs who had signed statutory declarations pledging support for Anwar and the Umno Sabah chief was perplexed as to why his name was again brought up in the ma er of Anwar claiming to have the support of MPs through their statutory declarations.

“Last month I denied supporting any parties including Anwar in their bid to topple the present federal government,” said Bung Moktar.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the allegations against him is merely speculations of irresponsible quarters adding that he has no time for these people as the time would be of be er use to focus on resolving issues affecting the rakyat.

Bung Moktar urged those involved to stop their speculations immediately as their action is confusing the rakyat.

Parit MP Datuk Nizar Zakaria has also dismissed allegations that he is one of the 10 Umno elected representatives who were said to have signed the statutory declaration backing Anwar as prime minister.

“I have never signed any SD in support of Anwar. I will never betray Umno and BN, I will always adhere to the principles and abide by all Umno instructions and decisions,” he said yesterday.
