Spiritual needs of police converts not neglected

-

LAHAD DATU: Individuals who have converted to Islam in the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) have never been neglected whereas various efforts have been undertaken to help the group increase their Islamic knowledge.

Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner, Datuk Mazli Mazlan said in line with the efforts, Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) has drafted and ordered each contingent to prepare and run programmes for the converts.

JIPS is also intended to set up PDRM Mualaf Association which will serve as platform to take care of the converts' welfare as well as their Islamic education.

"We (Sabah Contingent) are also planning to set up such association. Sabah Police Commissioner has also ordered Religion and Counseling Division (BAKA) of Sabah Police Contingent to prepare education of basic Islamic knowledge for the converts.

"The programmes will include religious talks, courses, recitation classes as well as Fardu Ain and Fardu Kifayah classes which aim to increase and empower their knowledge," he said.

Mazli said this during the handover of contribution to the Muslim brothers and sisters (converts) for east coast at Lahad Datu Police Headquarters, yesterday.

A total of 87 people received the contribution in the forms of worship items. Prior to this, a total of 151 had received the contribution in the west coast areas. The contribution worth RM8,640 is from the Zakat Centre.

In the meantime, Mazli hoped the contribution would be fully utilized by the recipients and could help in increasing their interest and love of Islam.

He also hoped that this effort will produce great and wise police members as well as curbing misconduct, and preserving identity, integrity, morals and faith.
