Four roadblocks set up in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: Four round-the-clock roadblocks and several patrolling teams have been set up by district police following the implementa­tion of Movement Control Order (MCO) here.

District Police Chief, ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad in a statement yesterday said the operation is aimed at ensuring that the Covid-19 situation in Lahad Datu is under control.

Following the operation, roadblocks were set up at KM12 Jalan Silam-Tawau, KM20 Jalan SegamaSand­akan, KM4 Jalan Tengah Nipah and Gate 55, Felda Sahabat.

Rohan said the roadblocks are part of the monitoring and compliance team establishe­d by Lahad Datu Police Headquarte­rs (IPDLD) that also involves Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) patrolling teams, Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) and road closure.

He said the operation is also accompanie­d by the General Operation Force (GOF), Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Civil Defense Force (APM) and Rela.

“Following the operation, we have also set up five patrolling teams that will monitor the compliance of MCO in focus areas namely in Lahad Datu town areas, Bandar Sri Perdana, Fajar Centre, and Tabanak.

“To ensure smooth flow of traffic in town areas, the roundabout near Ko-Nelayan and roundabout near Silam Dynasty Hotel will be close,” he said.

Rohan in his statement also advised the public to comply with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and MCO orders so that efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 will be fruitful.

He also advised the public to stay at home and limit their movement as well as only leave their home for important matters to reduce the risk of infection and break the Covid-19 chain.
