UPPM helps deliver food basket to villages

-

KOTA KINABALU: The Sindumin Unit Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat (UPPM) has come forward to assist Sipitang’s Pusat Kawalan Operasi Bencana (PKOB) to deliver food baskets to those under home quarantine for Covid-19.

Its Community Development leader, Sani Miasin said this is because the delivery of the food baskets to some of those under home quarantine was delayed.

“The food baskets from the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government is coordinated by the Sipitang district’s PKOB which is chaired by the district officer. However because of the sudden increase of Covid-19 cases in Sipitang, more families have been placed under home quarantine.

“Following complaints from those under home quarantine that the delivery of the food baskets is slow, we took the initiative to help the Sipitang PKOB to expedite the delivery process,” said Sani.

He disclosed that on Saturday, the UPPM team delivered 29 food baskets to families in eight villages. They also delivered 53 food baskets to 10 villages on Friday.

They also facilitated the delivery of 32 food baskets to Kampung Long Pasia which was handled by its village chief Yakub Sim.

Sani expressed the team’s gratitude to Siptang district officer Masawi Salleh for entrusting them with the trust to deliver the food baskets to those who needed it.

“To those who have yet to receive any form of assistance, please contact us at the PKOB as soon as possible,” said Sani.
