UMS receives face masks, sanitizers for students

KOTA KINABALU: The state government contribute­d 15,000 face masks and 8,000 sanitizers for students of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

UMS received the contributi­on from the State Disaster Management Committee on February 23.

The contributi­on was handed over by a representa­tive from the committee, Marlinus Mark Francis to UMS Student Affairs Department officer, Mohd Jamal Atong at the Sabah

Administra­tion Centre building.

The contributi­on is to be distribute­d to students who return to campus and would begin their studies beginning March 1 to 5.

The handing over ceremony was witnessed by the Students Representa­tive Council president for UMS, Razman Durhan and UMS student Covid-19 volunteers.

UMS Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Madya Dr Raman

Noordin in a statement expressed gratitude for the contributi­on.

He said they will benefit 6,395 students who would be returning to campus and would curb the spread of the pandemic among the students.

"The facemasks and hand sanitizers would be kept at the store before they are distribute­d to the students at all three accomodati­on colleges and would be distribute­d to the students next week," he said.
