Sebatik rep’s move has no impact – Merotai rep

-

KALABAKAN: The strength of Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) especially in the Kalabakan parliamentary constituency will not be adversely affected even though the Sebatik assemblyman has left the party to become a pro-Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) independent elected representative.

Kalabakan Warisan Division chief, who is also the Merotai assemblyman, Sarifuddin Hata said the action of Hassan A. Gani Pg Amir did not have an impact on the support for Warisan at the grassroots.

‘’Many have contacted me including branch chiefs in Sebatik. His action does not make an impact, except that all the party committee members are disappointed with his move.

‘’After we have slogged to elevate him to be an elected representative, he prioritised self-interest,’’ he told reporters at a media conference here, yesterday.

On Thursday, Bernama reported that Hassan who won the Sebatik state seat on a Warisan ticket at the last state election announced leaving the party to become a proSabah government independent candidate.

The Kalabakan Parliament has four state seats, namely, Kukusan, Merotai, Tanjung Batu and Sebatik.

The Kukusan, Merotai dan Sebatik seats were won by Warisan candidates during the state elections last year while Tanjung Batu was won by Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy from Perikatan Nasional. - Bernama
