Man collapses, dies while walking to clinic

KOTA KINABALU: A foreign man died after collapsing a few metres away from a private clinic in Tanjung Aru on Thursday.

Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP Habibi Majinji said the man, in his early 50s, was walking to the clinic when he collapsed around 10.30 am on Feb 25.

“The victim had initially complained of breathing difficulty and had asked a friend to accompany him to the clinic.

“As they were about to reach the clinic, the victim suddenly collapsed.

“Police arrived at the scene within minutes after being notified and found the victim unconsciou­s.

“The victim was immediatel­y taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital emergency room but was confirmed dead by doctors around 11.20 am,” he said yesterday.

Habibi said police are still investigat­ing the case to determine the cause of death but will classify the case as sudden death.
