67% of foreign workers in Sabah screened

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 78,449 (67%) of 116,834 foreign workers in Sabah have undergone the Covid-19 screening test in Sabah.

Sabah Covid-19 official spokespers­on Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun disclosed this during the Sabah State Covid-19 press conference here yesterday.

“Up to February 28, 2021, a total of 78,449 out of 116,834 foreign workers have undergone the Covid screening test or equivalent to 67%,” he said.

“For your informatio­n, the screening process for the remaining foreign workers who have not yet done the screening test has been scheduled for this week and next week.

“For that purpose, appointmen­ts have been arranged with the registered clinics that have been identified,” added Masidi, who is the Local Government and Housing Minister and Finance Minister II.

He stressed employers who fail to get the Covid-19 screening test for foreign employees in their companies will be compounded.

In addition, he said work passes and work visit passes of their foreign workers may not also be renewed.
