Minister visits stroke victim

KOTA KINABALU: Jolius @ Jelius Longik @ Jackson, 67, from Kampung Kionsom Topokon suffered a stroke a few months ago and since then, his movement has been limited. News of his plight reached Rural Developmen­t Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim who visited Jolius with local community leaders from Tamparuli last Sunday.

Jolius was taken aback with the visit and was unable to hold back tears when Jahid, who is also Tamparuli assemblyma­n comforted him with words of encouragem­ent. Jahid also encouraged Jolius’ family to continue to strive and not to give up in these trying times.

Before leaving, Jahid handed over a personal donation in cash and kinds to Jolius’ family and expressed hope that it would somehow help to ease their burden.

Jolius in return, expressed his gratitude to Jahid and the community leaders for taking time out to visit him and the minister for his contributi­on.

Jahid was accompanie­d by Kampung Kionsom’s village chief, Sopioh Ombon and its Village Deveopment and Security Committee chairman Jamuni @ Alponsus Mandakal.
