Jobless man held for over drugs
SANDAKAN: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) here detained a local man after they found 4.14 gram of substance believed to be syabu in his possession at Mile 12, Kampong Sungai Darling road yesterday.
ESSCom Commander, DCP Datuk Ahmad Fuad Othman said the unemployed man was detained at about 8.45 pm by a team of police from Battalion 15 General Operations Force, Malaysian Armed Forces and Police who were patrolling under Op Cegah Pati (OCP) Utara ESSCom.
Following a body inspection of the suspect, the team found a bag on his waist which contained 24 plastic packets filled with drugs.
A urine test conducted on the suspect also found him positive for drug abuse.
"The 28-year-old suspect was taken to Sandakan Police Headquarters for further action under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
"The team also seized a motorcycle used by the suspect during the incident," he said.
Fuad in his statement also thanked all the agencies involved in OCP for their involvement in ensuring the success of the operation. He said that the success is the result of cooperation of all parties.
"ESSCom with the cooperation from all agencies in Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone) will continue to further strengthen security in ESSZone.
"Regular patrol and aggressive monitoring through OCP will be carried out along with the show of presence to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants in efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 brought in by the illegal immigrants," he added.
