-

KOTA KINABALU: The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) is hosting a dinner reception for Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to China, in conjunction with his inaugural visit to Sabah.

The dinner reception will be held at the Putera Theatre Banquet Hall, in Bukit Padang here, today at 7pm.

FCAS President Tan Sri T.C Goh announced this in a brief statement issued here yesterday.

He noted that the dinner reception is a special event held in conjunction with the one-week visit to Sabah by Tiong and his delegation.

He thus hoped Chinese community leaders in the state would seize the rare opportunity to attend the dinner and to engage with Tiong and the MalaysiaChina Business Council (MCBC) on latest policies on bilateral trade between Malaysia and China.

Goh who is also President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) noted that since its inception in 2002, MCBC has been actively playing its designated role to promote bilateral trade between Malaysia and China.

He was convinced that under Tiong’s leadership, MCBC would be able to further enhance bilateral trade between the two countries, including east Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak.

Goh also commended Tiong for taking the initiative to establish 14 subcommittees under MCBC to better focus on and to benefit the various sectors of the country. These committee members must discharge their responsibilities to the best of their abilities within a certain period of time.

He also thanked Tiong for appointing him and two other senior Huazong officials namely, its Secretary-general Datuk Dr Wong Aik Loung and its Treasurer-general, Tan Sri Tan Kean Soon, as directors of MCBC, and to head its sub committees.

Goh will be heading the Malaysia-China Bilateral Trade Policies Subcommittee, while Dr Wong will be heading the Beltand-Road Construction Subcommittee, and Tan to head the Malaysia-China Construction and Development Subcommittee.

Goh assured that they would give their full support and cooperation to Tiong and MCBC.
