131 new Covid-19 cases in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Another 131 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in Sabah, bringing the total to 55,670 cases as of Saturday, said official state government Covid-19 spokespers­on Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

Meanwhile, Movement Control Order (MCO) would be imposed in Lahad Datu starting today (Sunday), and two localities namely Kampung Muhibbah Raya Tawau and Kampung Bukit Belacon under Mukim Segama in Lahad Datu would be under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

“Looking at the current worrying situation of increasing Covid-19 positive cases in Sabah, the State Government is warning the community or individual­s planning to hold social events and gatherings such as feasts, weddings and engagement­s, receptions, aqiqah ceremonies, prayers, tahlil, birthday celebratio­ns, reunions, retreats and other social events to cooperate in full compliance with the SOPs that have been set.

“The State Government also recommends that such functions be held moderately or temporaril­y postponed. Such events are not allowed in districts or areas under MCO and EMCO,” added Masidi in a statement yesterday.

A total of 70 patients recovered yesterday, while 688 patients with Covid-19 are currently receiving treatment, 290 of them are in hospitals while 398 are in PKRCs.

As of yesterday, 41 patients were placed in the intensive care unit, with 13 of them on ventilator support.

Tawau recorded the highest number of daily cases yesterday, with 87.

Lahad Datu was the second highest (10) followed by Putatan (7), Sandakan (5), Tuaran (5), Kota Kinabalu (4), Semporna (3), Papar (2), Penampang (2), Keningau (1), Kinabatang­an (1), Beaufort (1), Kunak (1), Nabawan (1), and ranau (1).

No new clusters were reported yesterday.
