People accept Bersatu, GRS govt – Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: The growing interest to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sabah reflects the people’s acceptance of the party and the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.

This positive sign also means that the people know GRS will ensure that their welfare is taken care of, said Hajiji who is also Bersatu Sabah chief.

He said this after receiving 7,364 membership application forms from Bersatu Kota Belud during the division’s anniversary celebration on Saturday. The forms were handed over by Bersatu Kota Belud division chief Datuk Japlin Akim.

The applications were mostly from the state constituencies of Usukan, Tempasuk, Kadamian and Pintasan which are all under the Kota Belud parliamentary constitution.

Japlin said Bersatu’s entry into Sabah can be seen as being able to add value as well as boost the strength of existing leaders in the state.

“When Bersatu Sabah was launched on April 6 2019, we only had 3,000 members but now we are part of the GRS government. Our membership reached 11,269 members in 107 branches,” he said.

Japlin added that the GRS government’s goal was to unite the rakyat in Sabah and to bring more development to the state.

Also present at the celebration were Tempasuk assemblyman Mohd Arshad Bestari, Kota Belud Srikandi chief Hasrina Wati Datuk Golkhan, Kota Belud Armada chief Fairuz Renddan, committee members as well as Kota Belud GRS leaders.
