Three MCO roadblocks in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: Police have set up three roadblocks in the district following the implementa­tion of the Movement Control Order (MCO) from April 11 to 24.

District police chief ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad yesterday said the 24-hour roadblocks are at Km 20 of Jalan Lahad Datu-Sandakan, Km 3 of Jalan Lahad DatuTungku and at Jalan Sepadulang (EMCO area).

Rohan said anyone who entered Lahad Datu during the ecovery MCO should leave the district as soon as possible.

In a statement yesterday, Rohan disclosed that barbed wire had been installed at the entrance of Kampung Bukit Belacon, which is placed under EMCO.

He said his men have also monitored and dispatched informatio­n to residents on the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the EMCO area.

“We also investigat­e the possibilit­y of rat trails in the EMCO locality that can be used by the residents to sneak out from the areas.

“It is hoped that the people in this village will cooperate and stay at home,” he said.

Rohan added that police will not hesitate to issue compound to anyone who failed to adhere the SOP.

Lahad Datu is the fourth district in Sabah to be placed under MCO due to increasing number of Covid-19 cases.

A check by The Borneo Post on the first day of MCO that there were large crowds of people at supermarke­ts who replenishe­d their basic necessitie­s.
