117 illegals detained in Sandakan

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Immigration Department arrested 117 illegal immigrants in Sandakan for not possessing legal identification documents.

Its director, Dato Dr Muhamad Sade Mohamad Amin, yesterday said the foreigners were held at the Sandakan Immigration Depot for further investigation.

“They were rounded up during a joint operation with other authorities at 1.10am on April 10 at a squatters settlement in Mangkalinau Batu 3, Sandakan,” said Muhamad Sade.

He reminded the public that it is against the law to protect or hire illegal immigrants.

APPOINTMENT: Sabah Dusun Muslim Organisation has appointed the Chief Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Panglima Hajah Juliah Salag, as its patron. The appointment letter was handed over by the organisation’s deputy president, Haji Junaidi Sahat, and witnessed by its committee members during a courtesy call on Juliah on Sunday at the Chief Minister’s official residence Sri Gaya. Juliah was also briefed on the organisation’s functions and objectives during the courtesy call.
