Loyal members will help PBS achieve goals – Jahid

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) deputy president Datuk Jahid Jahim calls on party leaders to continue being steadfast and loyal as this would help PBS achieve its goals.

Jahid when officiatin­g PBS Bugaya’s annual general meeting in Semporna on Saturday, added that party leaders at all levels must cooperate and continue to give the party unwavering support as well as carry out their duties with honesty and sincerity.

“It does not matter if the membership is small as long as you continue to be united and strengthen the division as well as branches. Your efforts will bring about changes in your respective areas,” said the Rural Developmen­t Minister.

Remain steadfast and confident that we will be able to bring about these changes together with PBS, said Jahid who is also Tamparuli assemblyma­n.

Jahid added that PBS members need to fight together with the party’s leadership for the rakyat’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to become a reality.

“Have confidence in our halatuju in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), you are on the right track because when we are united, our goals can be achieved,” he stressed.

Also present at the AGM were PBS Vice President Mursid Mohd Rais, PBS Women Movement Chief Datin Malianah Ugau, acting PBS Bugaya chief Fazidah Mohd Yassin, Bugaya Community Developmen­t Leader Abdul Hussin Kiamsin and Bersatu Semporna Chief Daud Tampokong.

Meanwhile, PBS vice president Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam said the party’s struggles are still well received by the people in Sabah and this is one of the reasons why many are interested to join the party.

Speaking at the joint annual general meeting of PBS Kundasang, Paginatan and Karanaan on Saturday, Dr Joachim said the 500 membership applicatio­n forms received is proof that the party’s struggles are accepted by the people in Sabah.

Dr Joachim who is also PBS Kundasang Chief added, “as a party that prioritize­s goodwill, peace, progress, harmony and understand­ing to ensure the integratio­n and unity of all races in Malaysia, especially in Sabah, we welcome all the new members.

“Congratula­tions for choosing PBS as your party of choice and let us fight together in the party,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister cum Industrial Developmen­t Minister also reminded party members not to use their posts for personal gain.

“As leaders of the party whether at the main committee, Women or Youth movements and as branch leaders, you are required to carry out your duties with full responsibi­lity, dedication and integrity.

“I wish to remind all party members with posts to carry out their duties notwithsta­nding political understand­ing,” he said adding that the strength of the grassroots in a party is a huge influence to how strong it is.

“If we fail to carry out our duties well, then the result will affect all of us and we will be at the losing end,” Dr Joachim said.

Meanwhile PBS deputy president Datuk Radin Malleh who officiated the joint AGM, said PBS is a multi-racial party which ensures that the rights and interests of Sabahans are protected.
