Sabah hockey chief appointed as MTPB deputy chairman
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Hockey Association (SHA) extended their congratulations to their President Datuk Seri Dr Anil Jeet Singh on his recent appointment as the new Deputy Chairman of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB).
“We wished to congratulate our president on his appointment and look forward to working with him particularly in promoting sports tourism in Sabah,” said SHA deputy president Mohamad Rasi Sulong on Sunday.
Anil was appointed to the post late last month where he will deputise for Datuk Seri Ramlan Ibrahim.
Mohamad Rasi believed that Anil will play his role in effort to reap more successes in sports tourism in Sabah.
“We are indeed proud of his appointment and we believe there will be more positive to come from him particularly in bringing about sports tourism,” added Mohamad Rasi in a statement on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Rasi said they were satisfied with their teams’ overall performances at the recent Malaysia Hockey League.
“We are satisfied with the teams’ performances where our men’s team finished seventh while our women’s team finished fourth.
“Another positive note is that there are a few of our players that played for some of the top teams in the league, which we think will augur well for the development of hockey in Sabah.
“This clearly shows that we are moving in the right direction. We will surely try harder in our effort to put up a stronger show in the league next time around,” he said.
The men’s team were making their debut in MHL while the women’s team featured for the second straight year in the country’s top hockey tournament.
