117 new cases, four more deaths in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The State Health Department reported 117 new Covid-19 cases yesterday with four deaths in Tawau (3) and Nabawan (1).

With the recommenda­tion from the Ministry of Health, the state government has agreed to extend its Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) effective April 15 to 28, in line with the decision made by the federal government.

Covid-19 spokespers­on Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said this in a statement yesterday, adding that two new clusters were recorded over the past 24 hours in Lahad Datu and Tuaran.

“Kluster Tabanak in Lahad Datu recorded seven new cases bringing the cumulative to 15. The index case was a 39-yearold man who tested positive in a clinic after symptomati­c screening. Following the case, 88 family members and close contacts were screened and 14 of them were positive, 27 negative while 47 are still waiting for results.

“Further investigat­ion found that the index case attended a ‘kenduri arwah’ in Kampung Lambanak. All positive cases were refered to Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment and PKRC for isolation.

“Kluster Kg Gayang in Tuaran added two new cases today, bringing the cumulative cases to

23. The index case was a 69-yearold man who went to clinic for symptomati­c screening.

“Further investigat­ion revealed the index case also attended a ‘kenduri’ on March 28 with about 30 guests in attendance,” he said.

As of yesterday, Masidi said Sabah recorded a total of 56,023 cases.

Seventy-eight patients were discharged yesterday, while 814 are still receiving treatment in hospitals and PKRCs.

The Enhanced Control Movement Order (EMCO) has ended in Kampung Rimbayan Keningau after 43 cases were recorded, while the three localities under EMCO in Tawau were extended.

EMCO in Kampung Ranggu Batu 10 Mukim Balung, Kampung Baru Pasir Putih Mukim Sri Tanjung and Kampung Simpang 3A Merotai have been extended for another two weeks.

EMCO was also announced in Taman Villa Mas in Tawau yesterday after seven cases were recorded from 42 screenings.

“In Sandakan, the state government has agreed to impose EMCO in Flat Sim Sim of Mukim Berhala and Kampung Sungai Obar Batu 7 of Mukim Sentosa until Aptil

“EMCO was also imposed in Kampung Melangkap Tomis, Kota Belud,” he said.
