Sabah Dancesport Association holds AGM

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Dancesport Association held its fourth annual general meeting on March 27 at John’s Dancesport Academy at Bornion Centre, Luyang.

Its president, John Chong, congratulated all the nine members who passed the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), UK professional examinations which qualified them as dance teachers.

Vice-President II Lai Kok Soon passed his Fellowship examination in the Modern Ballroom Faculty. Life members, David and Dora Voon who passed the Associate Latin American examination, attended the Graduation Ceremony 2020 which was held in London, UK on 18th February 2020. They were the first couple to attend from Sabah.

At the graduation ceremony, John received the International Imperial Dancesport Award in recognition of his outstanding overseas services, promotion of the Society and Dancesport in Malaysia.

David received the prestigious award and gave an acceptance speech on behalf of John.

John was re-elected as president of the association for the term 2021-2023. Other members of the Executive Council are Henry Chua (VicePresident I), Dora Voon (Vice President II), Felicity Jinu (Honorary Secretary), Feline Lee (Assistant Honorary Secretary), Maxine Lau (Treasurer) and Council Members namely, Esther Yong, Harold Chung, Rosalind Kueh and Adriana Voon.
