KOTA KINABALU: Training will be continued for the TABS Bandaraya grassroot football development programme during the fasting month.

However, training will only involve the non-Muslim footballers, said head coach Matasan Ahmad in a statement on Tuesday.

“Muslim players will only resume their training after the Hari Raya holidays,” he said.

The programme which is every weekend featured the under-12, under-14, under-15, under-16 and under-17 groups.

They trained under 10 certified coaches led by Matasan.

Meanwhile, the programme has just restarted after more than a year pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Around 300 budding footballers turned up when the session resumed recently.

According to Tabs Bandaraya deputy chairman Lokman Sunggim, they decided to resume the programme following requests from the parents.

Lokman thanked the parents for their full cooperation to ensure smooth running of the training sessions under the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
