MAG declares aspiration to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050
SEPANG: Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) seeks to achieve net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050 as outlined under its newly launched sustainability blueprint.
Group chief executive officer Captain Izham Ismail said the blueprint was designed to be all-encompassing covering environmental, social, safety, governance and economic factors, in line with the United Nation’s Agenda for Sustainable Development. At this stage, he said MAG is aiming to tackle four key goals: gender equality; decent work and economic growth; responsible consumption and production; and climate change.
“As a start, these are perfect targets for us to work towards, using our resources at hand efficiently to achieve the best outcome,” he said at the launch of the sustainability blueprint.
Also present were Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, MAG chairman Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin and United Nations Resident Coordinator in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, Stefan Priesner.
MAG is the parent company of national carrier Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, MASwings, Amal, MABkargo, AeroDarat Services and MAB Academy.
