Joachim visits Cement Industries Sabah

-

KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam had a working visit to Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd (CIS).

Joachim, who is also Industrial Development Minister, was briefed by CIS General Manager Sumardi Mohd Yusof on the issues faced by the company regarding increase in cost of raw materials, impact of foreign currency rate, no change in selling price and worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Joachim said the construction of new silos will also spur increased cement production to cater to market demands.

From the corporate aspect, Joachim hoped CIS would find a method to reduce manufacturing cost, increase productivity and generate company profit.

CIS would then be able to pay encouraging dividends to SEDCO Group and the state government.

Also present were Ministry permanent secretary Thomas Logijin and his deputy Tseu Kei Yue, SEDCO Group general manager Datuk Pengiran Saifuddin Tahir, Invest Sabah Berhad chief executive officer Datuk Madiyem Layapan and Ministry officers.
