Two slightly injured in pickup-lorry collision

TAWAU: A Toyota Hilux driver and passenger were slightly injured in an accident involving a lorry at Mile 8, Apas Road yesterday morning.

District police chief ACP Peter Ak Umbuas said in the 5.20 am incident, the 26-year-old driver of the Hilux with his 53-yearold mother as passenger were travelling from Kunak to Tawau and collided with the lorry’s rear at the scene.

He said investigat­ion showed the incident was due to the negligence of the Hilux driver who had fallen asleep causing the vehicle he was driving to collide with the back of the lorry.

The case is being investigat­ed under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
