Foreigner charged with injuring man

KOTA KINABALU: A foreigner was charged in the Sessions Court here yesterday with causing hurt to another man with a dangerous weapon.

No plea was recorded from Joni Abdullah, 37, who was accused of injuring a 21-year-old man at Jalan Kolam here at 10pm on March 29.

The charge was under Section 326 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine or whipping, upon conviction.

The case was heard virtually before judge Azreena Aziz and the accused was at the lock up.

The court fixed April 30 for remention the case and the accused, who was represented by counsel Luke Ressa Balang, was denied bail.
