TAWAU: Residents in localities under the enforcement of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) are allowed to leave their homes for vaccination appointments and need to show proof of the vaccination appointment information to the enforcement personnel on duty.

Sri Tanjong State assemblyman Justin Wong Yung Bin said he contacted Tawau district police chief ACP Peter Ak Umbuas to enquire and get confirmation on the matter.

“Those who have vaccination appointments need to show proof of appointment to enforcement personnel,” he said yesterday.

He also advised the public to always maintain cleanliness and comply with the SOPs set by the Ministry of Health and give cooperation to enforcement officers who are on duty in efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Justin who was also informed that the number of areas and localities in the Tawau district that are subject to the implementation of EMCO has increased recently.

Following the Covid-19 phase 2 immunization program in Tawau district which will begin today, residents in EMCO localities are worried about the vaccination appointments that they will have to attend according to the schedule during the period. Accordingly, they conveyed those concerns and referred to him.

In addition, due to the percentage of registration for vaccination programs for Sabahans is still at a very low level, Justin called on the public to be aware and to change the wait-and-see attitude and to immediately register themselves and family members to get vaccinated to achieve cluster immunity and end the Covid-19 pandemic.
