Man killed after losing control of vehicle

KOTA KINABALU: A 61-yearold man died after he lost control of his vehicle in front of the Jalan Lintas-Kepayan Shell petrol station at 6.41pm on Saturday.

Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah, Lee Kian Siang @ Alexander Lee was driving Toyota Avanza at high speed when the vehicle swerved and crashed.

“The victim was driving alone from Kampung Ganang, Kepayan to his home at Kampung Kambau, Penampang. When the victim reached Jalan Lintas Kepayan near the Shell station (heading towards Lido), witnesses saw the victim driving at high speed before losing control and swerving into a ditch in front of the junction leading out of Shell station,” Mohd Zaidi said in a statement yesterday.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The case is being investigat­ed under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
