-

KOTA KINABALU: Cititel Express Kota Kinabalu, in collaboration with One Roof Café is holding a campaign to help the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Kota Kinabalu (SPCA KK).

This campaign also aims to raise community awareness and support by raising fund to support SPCA’s operational expenses, estimated at RM60,000 per month through selling food and beverage vouchers for RM50 per booklet. which can be spent in One Roof Café of Cititel Express Kota Kinabalu.

SPCA KK, an animal welfare organization at Kampung Gaya, Papar, is highly dependent on donations from the general public to continue their works to provide shelter and adoption, spay/neuter services, education, investigation of animal abuse, assistance to caregivers and animal rescue.

During this time of pandemic, SPCA KK is struggling financially and need community support.

Currently, the shelter is accommodating 251 dogs and 50 cats. Between 2017 and 2019, about 486 dogs and cats were successfully re-homed under their adoption programmed. This is far beyond the target and SPCA KK is further facing challenge to provide adoption awareness due to pandemicrelated restrictions.

SPCA KK only relies on social media almost exclusively for any sort of public dissemination of information and awareness at this moment.
