Mechanic jailed for receiving stolen telephone

KUALA LUMPUR: A mechanic was sentenced to 18 months jail by the Sessions Court here on Wednesday for receiving a telephone stolen in the commission of a gang-robbery.

Judge Izralizam Sanusi handed down the sentence on Ibnu Sina Idris, 28, who pleaded guilty to the charge, to be served from the date of arrest, which was last March 26.

The father of three children, unrepresen­ted, was charged under Section 412 with dishonestl­y receiving the handphone belonging to one building manager, Abu Bakar Che Mat, 63, which he knew was stolen in a gang-robbery.

The offence was committed at Jalan Tengah 3 Kampung Tengah 6 ¼, Jalan Gombak here at about 5 pm last March 26.
