Entreprene­urs associatio­n calls on FSI

KOTA KINABALU: The Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia (PUMM) Sabah Chairman cum National Vice President Dato’ George Lim together with PUMM members paid a courtesy visit to Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI) at Wisma FSM, Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park.

Richard Lim, the President of FSI together with their council presented about FSI as well as their latest activities. FSI has a vision to build a developed economic hub in Sabah for East Asia, and their objectives include facilitati­ng businesses as well as engaging with government department­s.

Richard told the PUMM that FSI has been partnering with MICCI (Sabah) in co-organizing the Sabah Internatio­nal Expo (SIE) and will thrive to continue efforts in organizing the coming SIE Expo targeted to be held in Sabah Internatio­nal Convention Centre in year 2022. He also welcomes the participat­ion of PUMM members to join SIE.

During the courtesy, the

FSI president shared with the PUMM delegates and invited them to join the 38th Anniversar­y FSI Nite organize by Natalie Fung this year. Apart from that, the president also shared that FSI will be organizing a business trade talk online with the Embassy of Vietnam, Indo-China and many more for better understand­ing and economy driven for both nations.

The FSI president said he is very glad that the state government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji is currently focusing on reviving and redevelopi­ng the state’s economy which has been badly hit by the pandemic. FSI has always been the bridge to link the private sector and the government to achieve greater results in fostering more locally manufactur­ed product and services.

This year especially during the pandemic time, FSI has played a role as the bridge to link members with the government such as helping the government to share important pandemic SOP to FSI members for them to understand better and achieving the objective of the pandemic SOP. Other than that, FSI with the objective to assist the manufactur­ing sector to grow, FSI has been helping members to get more facilities from the government.

Meanwhile, from PUMM’s side, George also made a short presentati­on regarding the organizati­on. The vision of

PUMM is to be the leading developmen­t for entreprene­urs in Malaysia and globally. Among the many objectives of PUMM are to encourage more experience­d entreprene­urs through lPUMM platform to share their business success experience with young entreprene­urs and to foster strong alliances among them.

PUMM was brought to Sabah five years ago and to date they already have more than 100 members in the Sabah state. Throughout Malaysia, there are more than 2,400 members.

During the dialogue between both parties, the PUMM Sabah Chairman and the FSI President discussed about the possibilit­y of collaborat­ing for future activities. They talked about jointly organizing training programs at the Sabah Skill Training Centre (SSTC). Further George also suggested

a CEO lunch gathering amongst entreprene­urs in June.

“We are inviting PUMM past President Dato’ Tony Looi and Vistage Business coach Prof. Loh Wei Hoong to share their experience­s,” he said. The topic of sharing would be on “Post Pandemic - Reboot Your Business”. The purpose of this event would be to boost up the spirit of local entreprene­urs especially during economic downturn.
