KKJA to present study awards today

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu Journalist­s Associatio­n (KKJA) will be presenting study awards to 25 members’ children a er its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Hakka Hall today (May 1).

KKJA chairman Yong Ted Phen said the recipients comprised kindergart­eners, primary, secondary and tertiary students who have scored good academic results.

He said the award was also given to children who have shown outstandin­g performanc­e in extra-curricular activities.

“We give away the study awards every year to encourage our members’ children to work hard in their studies.”

The recipients are Aqsa Sumayyah Binti Suparman, Josie Evachel Johnlis, Jowetzky Johnlis, Shia Gah Xiu, Azyan Nur Batrisyia Binti Jumatin, Ian Ethan Lester Bingkasan, Ruth Immaculate Lester Bingkasan, Hana Rosa James, Adriel Allan Liaw, Alistair Vitalis, Alistrina Vitalis, Baby Nur Izzah Syahirah Binti Jumatin, Enjiun Tan Eng Jiun, Eric Kwan Yin Zhe,

Jane Yong Sin Yii, Lai Ka Wai, Natalie, Maya Hejnowska, Mohammad Isma Rifqi Bin Jumatin, Toh Pei Ni, Wong Jia Bao, Wong Jia Ching, Yong Chin Yii and Nursofi Aisyahtul Fatihah.

Yong said the associatio­n would also distribute face masks to 71 members before the AGM.

He reminded members to arrive at Hakka Hall at 9.30 am for face mask collection and registrati­on for AGM.

“Our AGM will commence at 10 am,” he said.

On another note, Yong earlier announced that he would pass the baton a er serving as the chairman of KKJA for the last six years over two terms.

“It is high time to give opportunit­y to new leadership to helm KKJA and revitalize the associatio­n.” The AGM this year will see the election of the chairman’s post between Jimmy Goh and James Tseu.

The rest of the commi ee line-up were elected unopposed.
