Man denies threatening mother
KOTA KINABALU: A man claimed trial in the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday to two charges of threatening his mother and possessing a sharp weapon without any reasonable explanation.
On the first count, Alexzenrie Mulalang, 27, who appeared before magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles, was accused of threatening to cause death or to injure his mother aged 49 in Telipok at 4 pm on April 25.
The charge was under Section 506 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both, upon conviction. On the second count, the accused was alleged to have a machete at the same place at 9.51pm on the same day.
He was charged under Section 6(1) of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and whipping, upon conviction.
The court fixed June 2 for pretrial cases management and released the accused on a bail of RM1,000 with two local sureties each of the charge.
