Four main points for development of Kuamut youths

-

Kuamut assemblyman Datuk Masiung Banah has outlined four main points needed for youth development in the constituency in the next five years.

The four points outlined include empowering youths in leadership institutions, economics, education and producing highly innovative human capital. Masiung stressed that youth leaders should be empowered in social and economic leadership without having to rely solely on government assistance.

The State Town and Housing Development Board (LPPB) chairman said this after presenting a special assistance to Form Six students of Sekolah Menengah Penangah in Tongod on Sunday.

The programme was organised by the Youth Member of Parliament Malaysia which is chaired by Kasrun Mahalil in collaboration with Tongod District Youth Association (PBDT) and Persatuan Belia Wawasan Tongod (PBWT).

Two days ago, Masiung also presented the special assistance to Form six students at Sekolah Menengah Entilibon, also in the area. A total of 86 students, 61 from SM Penangah and 25 students from SM Entilibon who will enter Upper Six received the cash assistance.

According to Masiung, the younger generation needs to not only be smart in organizing community activities, they need to have high skills to take advantage of the economic opportunities provided by the government.

“The key to all success is education and thus youths must focus on higher education in various fields of knowledge so that new innovations can be created,” he said.

Masiung hopes that the leaders of youth associations in Tongod will be able to spur great innovations and be on par with the success of young leaders at the state and national levels.

He said many youths in the district are very talented in various careers and fields including politics, economics, administration and sports which can be highlighted at a higher level.

“But unfortunately, their talents are less prominent due to the economic constraints of the family and this problem can be overcome through the modern awareness of the youths,” he added.

Masiung said that his main focus now is to overcome the internet access problem in Tongod which can be resolved by building more telecommunication towers and upgrading existing towers in the interior areas of the state.

“There are many schools located far from the city which do not have internet access and thus the students have no access to online education modules,” he lamented.

Also present at the event were Tongod District Officer Fauzi Nurbeh and SM Penangah principal Ganit Sanai, PBDT chairman Willy Frous Darinsok and PBWT chairman Elvenson Henly Jumali.
