State govt asked to step up Covid disinfection works
KUCHING: The Sarawak government is urged to carry out mass screening and disinfection to minimise the spread of the virus and reduce the risk of infection among residents in villages in Kuching district.
The call came from Ting Xiang Zhi, who is special assistant to Bandar Kuching MP Kelvin Yii, who said the public is inquiring about confirmed positive patients required by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to be isolated at home, but no professionals are assisting with disinfection works.
“The government should buy disinfecting sprayers and disinfectant for every village and community, so that people in all districts can disinfect themselves and do a good job in epidemic prevention,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
He observed that the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases remains high, and the pandemics is still rampant.
Hence, the Kuching Democratic Action Party (DAP) Disease Disinfection Team (DDT) has been working hard to respond to the demands of the people and trying its best to help residents and businesses to carry out disinfection and epidemic prevention, he added.
The disinfection team led by Ting himself recently carried out disinfection work for three consecutive days, going to villages in Stakan constituency and assisting with door-to-door disinfection inquiries.
The villages visited by the team included Stakan Kampung Melayu Masjid, Kampung Quop in Mile 10 area and Kampung Merdang Lumut.
