Flood, fire victims receive assistance

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) was among political parties in the state that has extended assistance to villagers in three villages in Penampang who fell victim to natural disasters.

The 488 villagers were from Kampung Sugud, Kampung Maang and Kampung Babah Bunduon.

Those in Kampung Maang and Kampung Sugud were stricken by a flash flood on Wednesday while the 12 families in Kampung Babah Bunduon lost their homes and property in a fire on Saturday morning.

PBS leaders handed over food, cooking utensils and cash donations to all the victims when they visited the flood-stricken areas on Monday.

Among those in the entourage were Deputy Chief Minister cum PBS Vice President Datuk

Dr Joachim Gunsalam, party Secretary General Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, Informatio­n Chief Datuk Julita Majungki, Youth Chief Christoper Mandut, PBS Moyog Chief John Chryso Masabal, its Youth movement members and the Task Force team. PBS expressed its gratitude to Kim Teck Cheong Consolidat­ed Berhad for donating 2,055 buns and 270 pieces of cakes to the victims.
