My Jet Xpress, KLN celebrate 200th flight between Macau, KK

-

KOTA KINABALU: My Jet Xpress Airlines has joined forces with Kerry Logistics Network Limited (KLN) to offer customised airfreight options within Asia by operating a new solution with the Macau International Airport as the transit hub.

The airfreight solution was first introduced in March 2021 by the two companies to support one of KLN’s ecommerce customers who was struggling at the height of the pandemic to obtain freight capacity from Macau into East Malaysia and Indonesia.

“My Jet Xpress successfully achieved 98 per cent of on-time performance since we catered to the demand for both these markets.

“The investment for the new aircraft, comprising a Boeing 737-300 and Boeing 737400, is about RM92 million to complement our existing two Boeing 737-300 planes,” said My Jet Xpress chairman Mohamed Yunos Bin Mohamed Ishak in a statement.

With the strong e-commerce market growing rapidly, Yunos said that My Jet Xpress acknowledges the consumer demand for greater transparency, speed and reliability.

“We are doing our best to fulfill these demands and be relevant to e-commerce growth. It is also consistent with our company motto, ‘The Way to Go’.

“We hope to see My Jet Xpress emerge as one of the main players in the air cargo industry, expanding not only in Southeast Asia but also throughout Asia with more fleet comprising narrow and wide-body aircraft,” he added.

On Thursday, My Jet Xpress and KLN held a ceremony at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) to celebrate the 200th flight between Macau and Kota Kinabalu.

Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir, who was present at the event, congratulated My Jet Xpress for reaching the milestone. “This is a great achievement. We hope that after the pandemic, the number of flights would increase,” he said.

“I would also like to congratulate My Jet Xpress and KLN for their joint venture. This would improve the industry,” added Abidin.
