Bung Moktar Radin Cup semis kick off
KOTA KINABALU: South West Coast team will face Central Zone while Upper Interior will meet North East Coast in the semi-finals of the Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin (BMR) Cup under-18 tournament today.
Both matches will start at 8am with South West Coast versus Central Zone to be played at the Likas synthetic field, while Upper Interior versus North East Coast will be played at Penampang stadium.
South West Coast collected seven points topping Group A, while Upper Interior topped Group B with five points.
North East Coast and Central Zone both collected four points each and finished second place at Group A and Group B respectively.
In yesterday’s group match, West Coast shared a point each with East West Coast after drawing 1-1 at Penampang Stadium, while South West Coast won versus North East Coast, also at Penampang Stadium.
At the UMS synthetic field, North West Coast drew 0-0 with Upper Interior, while South East Coast won 1-0 over Central Zone.
Winner in today’s semi-finals will advance to the final which will be held at Likas Stadium at 7pm. Third placing will be held at the Likas synthetic field at 3pm the same day.
The winner of this tournament will receive a cash prize of RM30,000.
Runners-up will bring home RM20,000, while third and fourth placed teams to receive RM15,000 and RM5,000 respectively.
Winning teams will also receive trophies.
Meanwhile, 60 talented players will be selected for a training programme during the tournament.
The players will be identified by a selection panel led by Sabah Football Association technical director Omar Maya Amat.
