Free tennis lessons for kids resume in Sandakan

-

SANDAKAN: Kelab Tenis Remaja Sandakan (KTRS) has resumed free tennis lessons for kids in Sandakan District.

“After nearly two years of ‘on and off’ disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we are happy that the government has now given the green light for sports activities to resume and we can hardly wait,” said KTRS president Taren Sunil Manoharan.

Nonetheless, Taren Sunil stressed that KTRS will spare no effort to implement all SOPs to ensure the well-being, health and safety of the kids who have decided to rejoin the free tennis clinics.

“Like before, these lessons will be held every Saturday and Sunday at the Sandakan Sports Complex courts from 7am to 9am,” said Taren Sunil.

He invited parents who want their kids to participate in these free clinics to call KTRS Secretary Jocelyn Lee at 019-881 2373.

“It has been quite a while since we held these clinics and although we are restarting with a small number of students I am sure the numbers will pick very soon,” added the KTRS president.

Meanwhile he notified that free lessons for kids held at two kindergartens will only resume next year since the 2021 school semester is now over.

He said that he was very sad that KTRS was not able to send their coaches to the kindergartens for such a long time but the government and Health Ministry had the welfare of everyone in mind when they enforced the Movement Control Order during the period concerned.

“After such a long layoff, we are going to start easy. We want the kids to shape up gradually before they go for the more strenuous drills. This is to avoid injury to their young bodies. For the moment we just want them to enjoy the game as well as the open public places again,” he concluded.
