STAR promised Kota Belud seat in GE15 — Jeffrey

-

KOTA BELUD: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) Sabah is ready to contest as many seats as possible in the 15th General Election (GE15) that it thinks can win, including Kota Belud.

Deputy Chief Minister and STAR president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G Kitingan said the Kota Belud parliamentary seat had been promised to be contested by STAR during discussions before the last Sabah state election.

“When we wanted to contest in Kadamaian and Pintasan, the two constituencies were given to Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and PPBM, and STAR was promised the Kota Belud parliamentary seat,” he said.

PBS lost the Kadamaian seat and PPBM won in Pintasan.

Jeffrey, who is also the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, said STAR already had a candidate in mind but did not want to announce the name when met by reporters at a program hosted by former Tempasuk assemblyman Datuk Musbah Haji Jamli here.

He was confident that the STAR candidate could win the Kota Belud parliamentary seat.

Also present were Assistant Works Minister Datuk Robert Tawik, Assistant Community Development and People’s Welfare Minister Flovia Ng and deputy chairman of the Rural Development Corporation, Jalumin Bayogoh

The Kota Belud Parliamentary STAR Coordinating Committee chaired by Jalumin later held a meeting to strengthen the party at the Tindian Komujo Eco Tourism in the Kadamaian constituency.

Jalumin, who is also the STAR information chief, informed that the committee agreed to work closely to strengthen the movement and party machinery in the Kota Belud parliamentary constituency.
