IDS webinar on investment protocol in Sabah

-

KOTA KINABALU: A webinar entitled Investment Protocol in Sabah: The Main Role of Invest Sabah Berhad and SEDIA- Investment Proposals Procedures and Process will be organised by the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah) on Feb 25, at 3pm via Zoom.

In a statement yesterday, IDS chairperson Datuk Adeline Leong said there is no doubt that the state of Sabah has tremendous potential and numerous opportunities to be the leading economy in Malaysia and the Asean region with its abundance of resources and strategic geographical location.

“With strong Federal Government support and the state’s preparation for Indonesia’s administrative capital move to Kalimantan, many foreign investors are showing interest in Sabah’s trade and economic engagements,” she added.

This was further confirmed and concluded in the recent Sabah International Business and Economic Summit (SIBES) held recently in Kota Kinabalu.

The international summit had sparked a lot of interests for potential investors both foreign and domestic, to seriously invest in the State.

With the presence of two investment organisations in Sabah, the newly established INVEST SABAH Berhad and the recent restructuring of Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA), the upcoming webinar aims to enlighten participants on the main role of the two organisations in terms of attracting and processing new investment proposals before being endorsed for approval by the State Government.

This webinar also serves to better understand the main functions of INVEST SABAH Berhad and SEDIA in complimenting each other in attracting and processing new investments into the state of Sabah.

Two speakers will be presenting their papers during the webinar. They are Datuk Madiyem Layapan, Chief Executive Officer of INVEST SABAH Berhad with his presentation “The Main Role of INVEST SABAH Berhad and Investment Proposal Procedure and Process”, and Keving Ukang, Chief Investment Officer, Investment Development Section, SEDIA with his presentation “The Main Role of Investment Development Section, SEDIA and Investment Proposal Procedure and Process”.
