PBS fights for people, says vice president

-

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) is a party that fights for the rakyat in the state, said its vice president, Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam.

The party’s struggles are for the people, not specific individuals, said the Deputy Chief Minister when officiating PBS Penampang division’s annual general meeting on Saturday.

“We will work for the rakyat and we can do something for the people, instead of just politicking. When there is political stability in the state, there will be more investments coming from within and outside the country,” he stressed.

Dr Joachim also called on party members to continue to increase the party’s membership especially from among the youths who are now elgible to vote and involve themselves in politics.

He added that there is a need to expose these young members to the PBS’ leadership.

He also expressed how proud he is of PBS Moyog’s members who have remained steadfast and loyal to the party despite its candidate for Moyog losing in the state election two years ago.

PBS Moyog chief John Chryso Masabal in his speech called on the party’s leadership to continue using the party’s own logo in the coming general election.

“I hope that as a component of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), PBS will use its own logo and flag in the election. I also call on the people in Sabah to continue supporting local-based parties in the state,” said John.

Meanwhile when officiating the joint AGM of PBS N. 36 Kundasang, PBS N.38 Paginatan and PBS Karanaan last weekend, Dr Joachim also welcomed 736 new members into the party.

The PBS Kundsang chief disclosed that PBS Karanaan had set up a new branch in Kampung Mininsalu, Ranau.
