Yayasan Ikhlas needs RM6 mln to implement projects in interior areas

KUALA LUMPUR: Yayasan Ikhlas (YI) needs RM6 million to implement several permanent and long-term projects for the benefits of the community in the interior areas in the country.

As such, the foundation’s Board of Trustees chairman Professor Dr Zainur Rashid Zainuddin, in a statement, called on the public and corporate bodies to join the foundation in fulfilling the wishes of the rural community.

The statement was issued after the presentati­on of Ramadan contributi­ons to 300 asnaf (eligible to receive tithe) families in the Klang Valley here yesterday.

“We need RM6 million to build two sekolah agama rakyat and five mosques, as well as repair three mosques, and also to provide a clean water supply system in seven places in the interior areas,” he said.

He said with the cooperatio­n of the Sabah and Sarawak Islamic religious department­s, and the support of the Sabah Mufti, the foundation would build five mosques and repair three mosques, which is expected to cost RM3 million, in the interiors of Borneo.

Apart from that, he said, YI, in collaborat­ion with the National Dakwah Council (MDN), will build two sekolah agama rakyat, estimated to cost RM2 million in villages in Sabah.

Constructi­on of the school, each with six classrooms, a teacher’s room and complete with the the necessary equipment will cost RM1 million each, he added.

According to the statement, YI in collaborat­ion with several experts from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), also carried out a project to provide clean water supply for residents in the rural areas in Kedah, Sabah and Sarawak.
